I just got word that Maureen O'Hara passed away. I am sad. Maureen was my father's favorite star (beside Joan Fontaine, who he used to say looked like my mother...). I was lucky enough to meet Maureen in 1991, when her film ONLY THE LONELY with John Candy and Antony Queen was release in the US. We did together a TV interview (that soon I will post here at the blog). She was 71 years old but still beautiful and articulated. I was thrilled with the oportunity. Her film THE QUIET MAN is one of my favorites (I recomend the young generation to watch it, is a great comedy by Director John Ford). We spoke about why she left Hollywood, her third marriage to the Pan Am pilot Charles F. Blair; her many visits to Brazil, etc. Farewell dear Mary Kate Danaher!

Acabo de saber que Maureen O'Hara faleceu. Fiquei triste. Maureen era uma das estrelas favoritas de meu pai (junto com Joan Fontaine, que ele dizia se parecer com minha mãe...) Tive a sorte de conhecer Maureen em 1991, quando seu filme MAMÃE NÃO QUER QUE EU CASE com John Candy e Anthony Queen foi lançado nos EUA. Fiz uma entrevista de TV com ela (que brevemente postarei aqui no blog). Ela já estava com 71 anos de idade, mas ainda era muito bonita e bem articulada. Seu filme DEPOIS DO VENDAVAL, de John Ford, é uma dos meus favoritos (recomendo à nova geração que o assista, é uma grande comédia). A gente conversou sobre os motivos dela se afastar de Hollywood, o seu terceiro casamento com o piloto da Pan Am, Charles F. Blair e suas muitas visitas ao Brasil. Adeus querida Mary Kate Danaher!
