Ontem à
noite assisti no Writers Guild Theater a projeção do novo filme de Gus Van Sant
"Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot" baseado na vida do cartunista
paraplégico John Callahan. O filme conta de como John, um alcoólico em crise,
sofre um acidente e fica paraplégico. Apesar do tema pesado, o filme é
emocionante e pleno de humor, e com uma mensagem muito positiva e de esperança.
No elenco os atores Joaquin Phoenix no papel principal, Jonah Hill, Rooney
Mara e Jack Black, entre outros. Alguns dos atores são paraplégicos e
dois dos roteiristas, Jack Gibson e William Andrew Eatman, também enfrentaram
na vida real adição a drogas e bebidas. Após a exibição Gus Van Sant, Jack Gibson e William Andrew falaram a
plateia de roteiristas ali reunida e contaram a odisseia de 20 anos que levou
para realizar o filme. Originalmente um projeto de Robin Williams, que acabou
passando para Gus. Eles agradecem a Robin nos créditos. Vale a pena assistir e também
conhecer os cartuns de John Callahan, de um humor ácido e politicamente
incorreto, deliciosos e que fazem lembrar o trabalho do meu querido amigo Nani,
cartunista e roteirista brasileiro com quem tive a honra de trabalhar muitos anos. Não percam, vocês vão chorar e rir ao mesmo tempo. Vale a pena.
Last night I watched at the Writers Guild Theater the projection of Gus Van Sant's new film "Don't Worry, He won't Get Far on Foot ", based on the cartoonist John Callahan's life. The film tells of how John, an alcoholic in crisis, suffers an accident and becomes paraplegic. Despite the heavy theme, the film is exciting and full of humor and with a very positive message of hope. In the cast actors Joaquin Phoenix, Jonah Hill, Rooney Mara and Jack Black, among others. Some of the actors are paraplegic off screen, and two of the screenwriters, Jack Gibson and William Andrew Eatman, faced the real-life challenge of fighting additions to drugs and alcohol. After the exhibition Gus Van Sant, Jack Gibson and William Andrew spoke to the audience of screenwriter there assembled and told about the 20 years odyssey that took to make the film. Originally a project by Robin Williams, which ended up passing on to Gus. They thank Robin for it in the credits. It is worth watching the movie and also becoming familiar with John Callahan's cartoons, full of delicious politically incorrect humor. Don't miss the film, you're going to cry and laugh at the same time. It is worth it.
