Miguel
Coyula is a Cuban filmmaker who won
awards to his country with several
short films since 1999. In 2003 he made his
first feature film RED COCKROACHES for less than $2000. The film won over 20
awards in film festivals around the world. In 2009 he did his second feature
MEMORIES OF OVERDEVELOPMENT. Its world premiere happened in the Sundance Film
Festival and gather several awards. Now he is launching his first documentary.
NADIE, about the love and deception in the Cuban Revolution, seen through the
eyes of a Cuban Poet who took part in the revolution, and never left the
country – Rafael Alcides. The film was censured in Cuba, but the community of
Cuban in Miami were also reactive to its presentation, , which means it should be seen by everyone with an open mind.
He showed the film
recently in Santa Barbara, California at the UCSB Pollock Theater… After the
screening Miguel and Actress and film producer Lynn Cruz spoke to the audience
present at the screening.
